The Shape Beneath the Silence

  • by

I don’t know why tonight feels heavier than the others. Maybe it’s the quiet. Maybe it’s the way the stars looked when I stepped outside…sharp, cold, spaced perfectly like someone placed them instead of letting them spill. Or maybe it’s just me, spiraling around the same thoughts I keep trying to pretend aren’t pulling me somewhere deeper.

Lately I’ve been stuck on this idea: the universe keeps repeating itself. Atoms, planets, galaxies…tiny wheels and massive wheels turning around a center they never quite touch. Every level of reality mimics the one above it, like some cosmic architect only had one design and printed it onto everything: the microscopic, the human, the celestial.

It’s too symmetrical to be random.
Too intentional to be meaningless.

Science says atoms are mostly empty space…99.999% nothing. Yet everything solid in my life, everything I’ve ever touched or lost or loved, is built on that emptiness. And space is the same way…endless darkness, scattered islands of matter clinging to each other. The universe and the atom are mirrors, repeating the same architecture. That kind of pattern doesn’t happen “by accident.”

But here’s the darker truth: I don’t think humanity is ready to admit that. People don’t like patterns they can’t control.

For thousands of years, humans believed in something bigger. Ancient Sumerians, Egyptians, the Greeks, indigenous tribes…every culture, every continent, every age had their version of a god, an angel, a force, a creator. It wasn’t superstition; it was instinct. Like the soul recognizing its own origin story.

And then somewhere along the way… faith became taboo.
Not gone. Not dead. Just hidden.

You can tell the world about your trauma, your hookups, your medication, your divorce…hell, you can live-stream your breakdown. But mention God, angels, miracles, any belief in purpose or design…and suddenly people flinch like you smuggled something dangerous into the room.

Why is that?

Why did the most universal human instinct become something whispered instead of spoken?

Some days I can’t help thinking the silence is engineered. Not by governments or corporations, but by something older. Something that understands how powerful people become when they remember they weren’t born from chaos. Something that thrives in noise and numbness and distraction because the second the world gets quiet, the truth starts leaking in.

Scripture warns about deceivers…forces that prowl, distort, interrupt the light.
Quantum physics says reality shifts when observed, like consciousness itself bends the rules.
Two different languages describing the same battlefield.

The darker side of the universe doesn’t need pitchforks or horns. It just needs us exhausted. Faithless. Disconnected. Too distracted to look up. Too addicted to certainty to admit we feel something holy moving inside our ribs when the room goes silent.

And then there’s space…endless, unknowable, expanding into nothingness.
And there’s God…endless, unknowable, existing beyond the edges of reason.

How is that a coincidence?

How are the two greatest mysteries…cosmic and spiritual…built from the same silence, the same impossibility, the same gravity of the unseen?

There is even a version of me that with a pulse full of shadow and purpose, sees through it all with a different kind of clarity. He knows this world runs on two truths at once: the seen and the invisible. He doesn’t flinch from the dark; he studies it. He doesn’t reject science; he threads it into faith like a weapon. He’s the one who realizes that atoms and galaxies are fingerprints…evidence left behind by a Being who doesn’t care if we believe, only that we notice.

And I do notice.

Quantum physics admits there are dimensions wrapped around us like locked rooms. Scripture says angels move between realms as messengers, guardians, warriors. If you strip away the symbols, aren’t they talking about the same phenomenon? Higher beings stepping through a veil we barely understand?

Maybe what we call “angels” are just the parts of the universe that refuse to bow to gravity. Beings made of the same light the universe began with. Consciousness before matter. Order before chaos.

The Bible begins with light.
Science says everything started with a burst of light.
Both stories are more aligned than anyone wants to admit.

And I keep coming back to the same question that haunts me:
How can the backbone of reality—the atom—and the structure of the universe be identical, yet we pretend there wasn’t a designer?

It’s almost laughable.

A repeating blueprint isn’t evolution. It’s signature.

And maybe that’s what the world is terrified of. If God exists, then everything changes…morality, purpose, destiny, responsibility. If the universe has an author, then the darkness isn’t emptiness; it’s resistance. It’s something aware. Something that benefits when we forget who built the light in the first place.

Tonight I feel the pull of that truth like gravity.
The universe is a cathedral made of silence.
God is the architect.
Science is the blueprint.
And the darkness is whatever stands between the two, trying to keep us blind.

I don’t know what it means yet.
But I know this:
Patterns don’t lie.
Light doesn’t lie.
And the universe…
the universe remembers everything.
